Application
Call. A call for PhD positions is posted yearly on the web site of the University of Cagliari, under the page University Doctoral Programme site. The call specifies the number of positions available for each PhD programme, with and without financial grant.
Application form. The candidates must submit the application form online (University Doctoral Programme website). Applicants must hold an Italian “laurea magistrale/specialistica” or equivalent foreign degree. There are no limitations as for the nationality of the candidates.
Standard Admissions. The selection of candidates is based on a exam consisting of:
1. CV evaluation
2. research project proposal (in Italian/English, min. 8,000/max 16,000 characters – excluding title and bibliographic references)
3. an interview
The number of available positions with or without financial grant varies from year to year.
Positions for foreign students. Positions reserved for foreign candidates are made available each year. For these positions, the exam consists of the evaluation of the CV and proposal for a research project, as well as of an interview via MS_TEAMS.
PhD fellowship. The standard fellowship consists of a grant of € 16243/year (gross) for the whole duration of the PhD program (3 year maximum). The grant is increased by 50% when the student undertakes a period of study abroad in a foreign institution.
Fees. Application fees are not applied for candidates holding a fellowship, while a fee is applied to the other PhD students (€ 280.00).
