DE certification

The Doctor Europaeus (DE) certificate, in addition to the doctoral degree, is awarded, under request, at the following conditions:

• The thesis research work must be revised by at least two external reviewers (referees) from two European countries;
• At least one member of the PhD final exhamination Committee must come from an institution in a European country;
• The PhD defence must be, at least in part, discussed in a language other than the official language of the doctoral candidate’s country of enrolment;
• Part of the doctoral research work must be carried out from at least three months in a European country.

In order to obtain the DE certificate, the doctoral candidate must submit, by the first semester of the third year, an application to the PhD board and Settore Dottorati e Master.
