Dottorandi del XL Ciclo
Bikash Kumar BEHERA (Tutor: Prof. Roberto Giuntini, Prof. Giuseppe Sergioli)
I am a PhD student in Philosophy, Epistemology, and Human Sciences at the University of Cagliari. I obtained my integrated Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Physical Sciences from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata in 2018. I have been actively engaged in quantum computing research, with a particular focus on quantum machine learning. My PhD project is leveraging quantum formalism to enhance machine learning classification algorithms. Mainly, my research focuses on designing scalable quantum-inspired AI and quantum algorithms, exploring novel multi-class classification techniques, and advancing the capabilities of quantum-enhanced learning models.
Matteo DA PELO (Tutor: Prof. Pietro Salis – Università di Cagliari, Prof. Antonio Lieto – Università di Salerno)
After many year of studies, including a bachelor in Philosophy, a Master’s Degree in Logic, Philosophy and History of Science and one in Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence and Digital World, I am now a PhD Student at UniCa. My project aims to study the Strong AI position, that is, that our cognition is entirely simulable, and show that at least its “weaker” form it’s possible, in a dynamic, embodied and emergentist cognitive approach. One of my most important focus it’s to show the epistemological power of AI models: for the better understanding of our cognition, the study of those new digital cognitive forms could be really outstanding. My research interests are of course Artificial Intelligence and its Philosophy, Philosophy of Information, Philosophy of Technologies, Philosophy of Mind, Paraconsistent Logic, Bioethics and AI Ethics.
Lorenzo DE DONATO (Tutor: Prof. Vinicio Busacchi – Università di Cagliari, Prof. Joahn Frederik Hartle, Akademie der bildenden Künste, Wien (Austria)
The research project “Teratologia, ovvero il potere del negativo nell’opera d’arte: indagini sulla rilevanza della teoria estetica di T. W. Adorno” aims to: (A) explore the possibility of updating Adorno’s critical-aesthetic teachings by analyzing developments within postmodern society through emerging forms of artistic expression and aesthetic conceptualization and the new dialectic currently established between art, aesthetics and society; (B) redefine the concept of art, taking into account the transformations of the last fifty years (since the publication of Adorno’s “Aesthetic Theory”) – this will involve examining new art forms and new modes of artistic production; (C) redefine the concept of aesthetics by incorporating the most current approaches and recent trends in the discipline; (D) reconceptualize the relationship between art and aesthetics, evaluating all possible connections and interrelations between the so-called new art forms and their interpretation by contemporary aesthetic philosophical currents; (E) investigate the conditions of possibility of the teratological, the anti-aesthetic and the formless as explanatory categories of the characteristics and interpretations that Adorno attributes to the work of art – this will involve examining the hypothesis that art no longer rejects traits of ugliness, deformity, asymmetry, disorder or disharmony, but rather tends to assimilate, incorporate and normalize them (not simply as representational content or mere figuration, but as intrinsic elements and techniques within the making of the work of art).
Sara DEIDDA (Tutor: Prof.ssa Elisabetta Gola, Prof. Simone Sangiorgi)
I am a PhD student in Philosophy, Epistemology, and Human Sciences at the University of Cagliari, with a background in languages and communication and a specific expertise in brand strategies and digital marketing.
My research focuses on the strategic and ethical implications of artificial intelligence in social media marketing. Specifically, I investigate how AI-generated content affects engagement, authenticity, and corporate reputation. I also examine the evolving role of social media managers, exploring how AI is reshaping their profession enhancing creativity, optimizing strategies, but also raising ethical concerns. My goal is to bridge the gap between technological innovation and ethical responsibility, providing insights and best practices for the responsible use of AI in digital communication.
Filippo RASERA (Tutor: Prof. Francesco Paoli, Prof. Antonio Ledda)
I graduated from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice with a bachelor’s degree in Classics and I obtained my master’s degree in Philosophy at the University of Padua. I wrote my master thesis on mereology, focusing on its second-order and plurally quantified formulations.
I am currently a PhD Student at the University of Cagliari under the supervision of Professor Francesco Paoli and Professor Antonio Ledda. My research falls within the scope of formal logic, in particular algebraic logic.
