Guide to progression to subsequent years and admission to the final examination<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

From the 2024\/2025 academic year, in line with a measure set out in the HRS4R Action Plan, the procedure for doctoral researchers to progress to the next year requires the preparation of an interim report<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Accordingly, the procedure is as follows:
\n1. Preparation of supervisors\u2019 annual assessments for admission to years after the first and to the final examination (form<\/em><\/strong><\/a>) [to be completed by the final month of each year of the programme<\/u><\/strong>];
\n2. Presentation of an annual seminar on the activities undertaken and its assessment by the internal Review Committee (annual seminar abstract form<\/em><\/strong><\/a>) [to be completed by the final month of each year of the programme<\/u><\/strong>];
\n3. Preparation of an interim report<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by the doctoral researcher [to be submitted by the end of Year 2<\/u><\/strong>];
\n4. Preparation of the final report<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by the doctoral researcher for admission to the final examination [to be submitted together with the thesis on the Esse3 platform by the deadlines specified by the Doctoral School Coordinator<\/u><\/strong>, in accordance with communications from the administrative offices];
\n5. Preparation of the Action Plan, to be completed by December of Year 1 and by September of Year 3 (NOTE: for the time being, only supervisors are involved)<\/strong>.

Information on the procedures to be followed when undertaking a period of study or research abroad is available on the University\u2019s dedicated webpage<\/strong><\/a>.<\/u><\/strong> Please note that, to obtain authorisation from the Doctoral Programme Board, you must email the Coordinator at least one month before departure, providing the following information: host institution, external supervisor, dates (duration, start and end), and a brief description of the planned activity.<\/p>\n
